one little word 2013 ~ Happy New Year

Wow, what a year 2012 was!  I'm a little sad to see it go, but also so hopeful about all the new things to come.  Me and my family of 5 had a great year overall.  We did mostly everything we set our minds to doing.  We took time off for a couple of vacations that will be memorable for years to come.  Silver Wings surpassed goals and my husband, bless him, he surpassed many goals at his profession as well.  All of us are healthy so that's a good, good year in my book.  I hope 2013 is as great or better.

I'm not one that likes a lot of changes, but I'm always up for a fun challenge.  I've already been challenged to run 1000 miles in 2013 and I started that goal yesterday.  FELT great to get back out there and hit the pavement.  Nov - Dec 2012 was a busy, busy, busy time for me so my fitness goals took the back burner.  I'm back and I want to give these 1000 miles in 2013 a whirl.   3 miles down, 997 to go.  I can do this!  Bring it 2013!

Last night I was talking with my very best friend, Katy over at Birdie Baby Boutique and she mentioned the One Little Word Challenge by Ali Edwards.  I had to check it out right away and loved what I read on her blog.  I especially love this quote, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow. From my own personal experience, it can be a catalyst for enriching your life."   I loved what I felt when reading that statement.  The freedom to pick any word, big or small, to be a staple in your own life for the year of 2013 seemed so easy {or hard when you are like me and get scrambled when I'm given options ;)}

Since I just found out about this OLW business I knew I had to think of something quick and meaningful for 2013.  It only took me a few seconds to pick the word, strong.  When I think of the word strong it makes me think of all the other words associated with it too.  Like endurance, preservation, capable, impressive, brave, unique, vivid. just to name a few.  And it also makes me think of the word that it is NOT, weak.  I want to start everything and end everything I do strong this year.  Whether it's a run, making a piece of jewelry, playing a game with my kids, being a loving wife, listening to a friend, I want to begin and end strong.  So I had to make myself a bracelet that I can wear to remind me of this powerful word:

I also had to make a skinny one because I like to layer:

So I bring this challenge to you all.  What will your OLW be for 2013?  There are so many choices so pick wisely :)  There is also a little side challenge that goes along with this.  If you share this blog post and come back and say you did I will giveaway a hand stamped leather wrap bracelet or a skinny hand stamped leather wrap bracelet with your OLW for 2013.  Giveaway ends this Friday 1/4/2013.  Just come back and comment on this blog post that you shared and let me know what your OLW is for 2013.

May this year be filled with peace, love, and happiness.  Here's to a great 2013!!

Blessings and love,
Carla ~ Silver Wings Designs
